European Chapter of IALE (EALE) will be lauched in July 2009 - free membership for 2009!

During the last 5 years, European members of IALE have been working on the formation of a new chapter of IALE, the European Association for Landscape Ecology (EALE). The goal of EALE is to coordinate the common interests of landscape ecologists at a European level. EALE will not replace the existing European chapters of IALE, quite the opposite: The chapter will support the existing European national chapters as well as individual European members of IALE at a variety of fields where landscape ecological theory, methods, practise and education are or needs to be coordinated at a European level to support the development of European landscapes. EALE will also stimulate the foundation of new national, sub-national or cross-national chapters of EALE that can promote the solution of landscape ecological problems tied to specific European landscapes.

IALE Bulletin 2/2009 has a lot of important information on the upcoming chapter. More information (statutes, membership registration, nomination forms for prospective members of the Executive Committee and the Representative in the IALE Council) can be found at http://landscape-ecology.eu.
The European Association for Landscape Ecology (EALE)  will be launched during the European Landscape Ecology Congress in Salzburg Monday 13th of July, 17:30-20:30. The meeting will be opened by a General Assembly, followed by a Roundtable discussion with representatives of European Organisations dealing with the development of the European landscapes. The meeting will be closed by a reception: Terroirs of European Landscapes, with culinary specialities from all over Europe. All members and friends are welcome!

Be active in the development of EALE: Sign up for an active involvement in the development of EALE through the formation of election lists for the election of an Executive Committee of EALE
All European members of IALE are invited to be actively involved in the development of the activities of EALE and the formulation of tasks and goals for the new organisation.  In the initial phase of the new organisation an important task is to formulate visions and programs for the upcoming Executive Committee. Therefore the members are invited to form election lists with programs and candidates for the list.
On http://www.landscape-ecology.eu you can find a nomination form. In the near future we would like to run a Blog where you can announce your interest in EALE and get in contact with other I(E)ALE-members. It will be a Platform where you share your ideas and formulate future tasks and goals of EALE. The first goal of the Blog is to generate a list of potential candidates for the executive committee.
The final election lists should be received by Jesper Brandt, ENSPAC, RUC, P.Box. 260, DK-4000 Roskilde, Fax 0045 4674 3031, brandt@ruc.dk, no later than 10th of June 2009, or delivered directly to Jesper or the Congress secretariat during the IALE Congress in Salzburg before 13th of July, noon.
