2016 SIEP-IALE International Congress

Challenges of Anthropocene and the role of Landscape Ecology

Asti, Italy, May 26 - 26 2016.

For the first time in the history of the earth, a single species, that of humanity, is acting as a powerful evolutionary force in seeking to adapt the environment to its needs. Humans are the leading agents in global changes, and must assume responsibility for these transformations. These pose difficult but also stimulating challenges, where the Anthropocene, as an unique phase in the history of the earth, opens many new possibilities.

SIEP-IALE has addressed the contradictions of global changes since its 2004 conference "Planning for Uncertainty.” In the current proposed Congress we intend to compare these anew in the form of specific challenges that must be recognized, interpreted, collected and addressed.
