Following the postponement of the IALE European Landscape Ecology Congress 2021, IALE-Europe has rescheduled the IALE the Congress to 11-15 July 2022. The venue will remain the Old Library of the University of Warsaw, Poland.

The new call for abstracts will start on 3 November 2021 and end on 28 January 2022. Please see the updated program outline and all new important dates at the congress website www.iale2022.eu. We are waiting for your submissions and see you next year in Warsaw.

On 8 March, International Women's Day, the IALE Diversity and Inclusion Committee hosted the event, "Women in Landscape Ecology: A Global Conversation". The event featured a discussion with three prominent women in the field: Prof. Harini Nagendra (Azim Premji University, Bangalore, India), Prof. Joy Obando (Kenyatta University, Nairobi, Kenya), and Prof. Sarah Gergel (University of British Columbia, Vancouver, Canada). The conversation featured many personal stories from the three panelists and covered a range of topics, including the challenges of being a woman in landscape ecology and advice for early career researchers.

Women in Landscape Ecology: A Global Conversation

Summary: On International Women's Day, 2021, this panel of landscape ecologists from around the world who identify as women will discuss challenges, perspectives, lessons learned in their careers, and advice for other women in the field. A short introduction and remarks from each speaker will be followed by a discussion and question-and-answer period. Topics will include advice to early career women in the field, and ways we can make change for the better within IALE and the landscape ecology community.

The IALE Diversity & Inclusion Committee has prepared a Draft Meeting Code of Conduct to apply to all events sponsored by IALE. Download the draft here.

The purpose of the Code of Conduct is to outline the acceptable and unacceptable behavior at the World Congress and all other IALE-sponsored meetings and events, whether virtual in person. We propose that all attendees at future IALE World Congresses will be required to agree to this code of conduct before attending. In addition, as a condition of receiving IALE funding for meetings, regional chapters will be required to agree to the code of conduct and to share it with their meeting attendees.

Based on the current uncertainties about the evolution of the spreading of the coronavirus and vaccination processes, the IALE-Europe Executive Committee and the Local Organising Committee of IALE2021 congress made a tough decision to postpone the IALE2021 European Landscape Ecology Congress to 2022.

It’s time to select the 2020 Landscape Ecology Journal's Best Article Award. The selection criteria and procedures are attached here. Please send your nomination of one article from our journal during 2020 to Jianguo Wu (Jingle.Wu@asu.edu; Editor-in-Chief Landscape Ecology) by January 31, 2021 for consideration, with a brief explanation of why you’re excited about the paper.
