Dear IALE members,
We are pleased to share the highlights from the latest jammed packed December 2025 IALE Bulletin, covering key updates, organizational achievements, and important opportunities in the coming months:
- 2026 Funding Opportunities: IALE-World will issue small grants to our member chapters and working groups in 2026 to support conferences, communications, and travel, with particular attention given to professionals at early career stages and foreign scholars.
- Affiliated Journal Discount: Active IALE members can benefit from a 50% discount off the article processing charge (APC) for papers submitted to our affiliated journal, Landscape Ecology. Please email me (at davis DOT amelie AT gmail DOT com) asking for the voucher, along with your manuscript ID, to what chapter you belong, and when you joined. The request goes to Springer once we have verified your membership and takes approximately five business days.
- IALE-NA 40th Anniversary Meeting (April 26-30, 2026): Abstracts due 17 December!
- NASA-MSU Professional Enhancement Awards to attend theIALE-NA meeting (due 15 December 2025).
- • IRALE 2026 Conference (Feb. 26-28, 2026) will focus on “Social Inclusivity towards Landscape Integrity and Resilience” and will take place in Thekkady, Kumily, Kerala. Abstracts are due 15 December 2025.
- European Congress concluded and we have a summary of the 428 researchers and PhD students from 36 countries who met to discuss “Landscape Perspectives in a Rapidly Changing World”.
- The Historical Landscape Ecology Working Group has new leadership. They have launched a Google Group and are planning a hybrid seminar in early 2026 to strengthen active collaboration.
- The Landscape Planning Working Group was well represented at the European Congress and is working onorganizing thematic sessions at upcoming European and World Landscape Ecology congresses.
- A summary of key publications in our field. The work by Drs. Jianguo Wu, Alex Buyantuev, Ignacio Fernandez, Josh Gilman, G. Darrel Jenerette, and Xin Wang is entitled "Eighty-Six Milestones in Landscape Ecology: A Tribute to the Discipline’s 86th Anniversary".
